Isaiah 54

I have this music CD in my car that are verses being sung to help you remember scripture. I’ve been listening to it for a few months and one of the verses is Isaiah 54:2 “2Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;”

We went to a Thanksgiving service Sunday evening and the sermon included this verse! I think God is speaking to me through this, but I’m not 100% sure what the message is yet. The pastor pointed out Sunday that this particular group of folks was getting ready to experience growth in the Bible. Not sure how this applies to my life, but I’m looking forward to seeing what is in store.

I decided to read a bit more in Isaiah 54 today, and verse 13 jumped out at me “And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children.” I love the thought of my children having peace because they know the Lord. Thankfully, my four year old is starting to tell ME about Jesus and things he’s learning about the Bible. He knows Jesus died on the cross for our sins so we can go to heaven. As a mom, that’s one of the best feelings in the world. I’m by no means the perfect parent, but I’m teaching our kids about our God that loves them so much and that’s the most important thing we can do.

It made me think about the following verses as well…

Deuteronomy 6:6-9King James Version (KJV)

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

I don’t have enough scripture hanging in my house, so that’s something I need to improve upon. We’re bombarded by so many other messages and images each day, we really need to have God’s word in our faces to combat the other things we see and hear.
